Hi, I'm Emily.
I’m a passionate trainer and humane educator, and I love teaching all animals (including humans) skills that allow us to better coexist. I strive to inspire compassion and critical reflection by providing science-based education to pet guardians and professionals about behavior, welfare, and the relationships between humans and other animals. I love teaching webinars, presenting at conferences, guest lecturing at universities, developing courses, and more.

I believe teaching and learning are collaborative processes, and I deeply appreciate everything I learn from the humans and other animals I work with. Formally continuing my education is also important to me. I'm currently pursuing my Doctor of Education with a specialization in Humane Education from Antioch University. Additionally, I enjoy taking courses, attending conferences and webinars, listening to podcasts, and reading.
I’m also dedicated to helping pets in rescues and shelters and have done so for over 10 years. I’ve worked and volunteered with several organizations, such as the Humane Society of Boulder Valley and Summit Dog Rescue. In 2020, I co-founded the Humane Alliance of Rescue Trainers, which matches rescues and shelters with credentialed trainers for behavior support at no cost. I also offer consulting and education to shelters, rescues, and other nonprofits.
In addition to my passion for pets and their humans, I love to explore the natural world and hope to inspire humans to better coexist with wildlife and nature.
If you have any questions about me, please don't hesitate to ask. I look forward to learning from each other.
